Welcome to Cooktown District Community Centre
Commonly known as CDCC, is a neighbourhood centre, a place of connection, belonging, participation and inclusion. Our office is based in Cooktown on the traditional lands of the Eastern Kuku Yalanji Aboriginal people.

Our Services
Our service leverages local resources to make local communities better for everyone. CDCC provides tangible support and assistance to local communities, particularly people and groups who face hardship and vulnerability.
Our Reach
We are an independent, community based non-profit and registered charity delivering community and social services to the Cooktown, Hope Vale, Wujal Wujal and Laura region.
Our Programs
We deliver government-funded and self-funded programs which provide general community support including referrals for local services, food and financial assistance (Emergency Relief, No Interest Loan Scheme, and seniors and family support services.

Privacy & Confidentiality
We are committed to the principles outlined in the Privacy Act 1988 & the Information Privacy Act 2009 and has in place, procedures that ensure compliance with the legislation.
All meeting records are stored securely, and you are always welcome to review or update your files upon request.
How We Protect Your Information
All client information is strictly confidential and will only be shared with other organisations with your permission or when legally required, to ensure you receive the best services and level of care.
CDCC staff are committed to your wellbeing and privacy and receive ongoing training in regards to all aspects of confidentiality.
Reviews of your files are always conducted in private with the appropriate staff members.


Limitations to Confidentiality
Your privacy is our priority, but in rare situations, we are legally or ethically required to share information to keep you and others safe
Your information will be shared at internal case conference meetings – this is to ensure we are providing the best services we can.
Non-identifying information will be shared across agencies involved in coordinated community responses to community issues.
We are not required to observe confidentiality and may be legally required to make a report when:
-
- the safety of a client, their children, the staff member, other clients or any other person is at risk
- there is suspected child abuse or neglect
- it is believed that a serious criminal offence has occurred or is likely to occur
- documents or information are required by a Court of Law (when a subpoena issued).
Workers are authorised to share information with an external supervisor where necessary for the purposes of supervision and debriefing.
